The French winger had just returned to training and played 45 minutes against Villareal.

Ousmane Dembele suffered a thigh problem before the La Liga clash against Getafe.

Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde is without Ousmane Dembele for their clash with Getafe after the forward picked up a thigh injury. The injury woes won’t seem to stop anytime soon for the Blaugrana, as Ansu Fati is out with a knee problem, along with captain Lionel Messi, who has a thigh problem too.

Dembele has picked up a thigh injury, the club has announced. The France international, 22, will undergo further tests by Barcelona’s medical staff to determine the extent of the injury.

The former Rennes man had suffered a hamstring injury in the season opener against Athletic Bilbao and missed the following six weeks before returning to action in last Tuesday’s win over Villarreal at the Camp Nou. He has been a subject of numerous injuries during his time at Camp Nou and this is the latest setback for a player who hasn’t yet realized his potential mainly due to his physical issues.

Dembele’s absence depleted Ernesto Valverde’s attacking options, the head coach having already been short of main superstar Lionel Messi, who has a thigh problem.

Valverde started with a front three of Antoine Griezmann, Luis Suarez and Carles Perez against Getafe as he made two changes from the 2-1 midweek win over Villarreal. Perez took Messi’s place up front while Nelsinho was replaced in midfield by Frenkie de Jong.
