Borussia Monchengladbach star Granit Xhaka is heading to London for talks with Arsenal regarding a transfer, a friend of the star has claimed.
On Tuesday, the German club confirmed that they had received an offer for the 23-year-old Swiss, thought to be around £35m.
Xhaka seems keen on a move, admitting that the Premier League is ‘a childhood dream that could be fulfilled’.
Artan Muhaxhiri, a journalist and close friend of Xhaka, confirmed on social media that the player is set to fly to London tomorrow, with his family, for talks with the Gunners.
Muhaxhiri posted on Facebook: ‘BREAKING NEWS: Just confirmed. Granit Xhaka is traveling to London to finalize an agreement with Arsenal FC! Congrats Granit #XhakaGooner’
Arsene Wenger is thought to prefer Xhaka over Leicester’s N’Golo Kante, while Arsenal are keen to complete a deal before the European Championships begin.
Xhaka also seems interested, revealing on Swiss radio: “For me, it is important that there is a decision before the European Championship.”
Wenger has a serious need for new recruits in central midfield after allowing Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini to see out their contracts and leave the club this summer.
