In the wake of Cristiano Ronaldo signing a new megabucks deal to stay at Real Madrid, one Premier League star has the credited the Portuguese wizard for making him a better player.

Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil earned a reputation for being ‘King of Assists’ during his time at the Bernabeu. In fact, 27 of them over a three-year spell enabled the man known as CR7 to boost his formidable goal tally.

German Ozil has revealed the impact that the three-time Ballon d’Or has had on his career, and how he has helped Ozil become the player he is today.

Speaking to Arsenal’s official YouTube channel, Ozil said: “Cristiano Ronaldo, I never saw one guy like him.

“He is the first guy in the dressing room and the last guy to go home. He wants to fight even in a training game.

“He made me better on the pitch. Of course, I give my assists, a lot, to him and he knows. But I really enjoyed playing with him because he does not need a lot of chances.

“So even if I give him two assists, he will score two. Amazing player. One of the greatest players in history.”
