Chelsea legend’s warning for squad ahead of Conte arrival

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has warned his squad ahead of the summer arrival of new Blues manager Antonio Conte: Adapt to his methods or pack your bags.

Conte is set to take over the Stamford Bridge in the summer, after managing Italy at Euro 2016. He has signed a three-year deal with Chelsea.

And Lampard, who these days turns out for MLS side New York City FC, reckons changes could well be the order of the day at his former club.

Lampard, Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer after a 13-year career in West London, told Sport: “Conte has a big job to do.

“There’s been a transition at Chelsea that looked like it was going in a good direction, but it’s gone in a completely negative one.

“They shouldn’t be where they are now. You can see Conte is going to take the bull by the horns and try to imprint his style and technique on the club.

“He might need to bring in players who will respond to that. There will be a change of personnel at Chelsea.”
