Chelsea set to offer £15 million for Barcelona star Denis Suarez

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are set to table a £15 million bid to land Barcelona’s out of favour star Denis Suarez in January. Maurizio Sarri is set to dip into the transfer market to find an ideal long-term successor to Cesc Fabregas who is set to head for the exit door at Stamford Bridge.

An academy graduate of Celta Vigo, Suarez made his move to Manchester City back in 2011 but he failed to make a single appearance in the Premier League. The Spaniard subsequently moved to Barcelona in 2013 and played for the ‘B’ team before making a move to Villarreal in 2015.

The 24-year-old proved his worth at Villarreal in the 2015-16 season, accumulating 4 goals and 4 assists from 33 appearances in the La Liga. He also impressed in the UEFA Europa League where he amassed a goal and 7 assists,  helping his team reach the semi-finals before they were eventually knocked out by Liverpool.

Suarez is a technically-gifted and tactically-versatile midfielder who can play in attacking and central roles in the midfield. He has also been deployed as an inverted winger down the left and as a supporting striker at times. Known for his flawless passing, mesmerizing dribbling skills and incredible vision, Suarez has been tipped to be the ideal long-term successor to Cesc Fabregas.

Meanwhile, Fabregas has been linked with a move to AC Milan ahead of the mid-season trading period. However, the Italian giants are clearly unwilling to meet Chelsea’s £11 million valuation for the 31-year-old.

Suarez has made only a single appearance in the La Liga from the bench this term and is keen to secure a move away from Camp Nou in search for more regular minutes. Asked about his future recently, Suarez said: ‘I work to play and I’m not having minutes, if I do not play… we’ll see.’
