AS Roma have just confirmed the signing of striker Edin Džeko from Manchester City

Bosnian striker Edin Džeko has signed for Italian side AS Roma on a one-year loan deal with the option to a permanent move.

The 29-year-old officially signed his contract earlier today after successfully completing his medical in the Italian capital.

Džeko has been popular on a number of European club’s shopping list this transfer window after he publicly said he was ready for a new challenge after his four years at the Etihad.

New challenge

The Bosnian was City’s top goal scorer during the 2012/2013 campaign with 15 goals and was pivotal in securing the Blues’ second Premier League title the following year, scoring 26 goals in all competitions.

Since then he has seen his first-team opportunities limit at City following the signings of Wilfred Bony and Raheem Sterling in the last two transfer windows.

Now Džeko is ready for a new challenge and after completing his move told Roma TV: “I came here to win titles with Roma. Hopefully we will win many, many trophies but first we have to work hard on the pitch and at the end, hopefully we will get where we want to be.

“I can only promise one thing and that is that I will give my best for this club in every game.”
