Barcelona defender Jordi Alba believes Lionel Messi is at another level and whether he gets the Fifa’s Best award or not it doesn’t undermine his talent.
Messi continued his dream run against the English teams as he ran riot single handedly at the Wembley stadium to sink Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.
The Argentine international made the ball talking with his magical foot as he inspired Barcelona to a 4-2 win over the North Londoners. Messi scored a brace to take his total tally of goals to five in two matches in the Champions League this season.
Messi was ignored for the three man shortlist for FIFA’s Best Men’s Player which went to Luka Modric for his brilliant performance in the World Cup. But Alba feels Messi doesn’t award to prove his form.
“For me, The Best is a lie. Modric is a great player, one of the best in the world.
“But Messi is like at a separate table, plays at another level. He has once again demonstrated that he is the best in the world.
“When Leo runs, the rest of us only have to grit our teeth. He is the best and he makes us all a little better.”
He went on to add, “If we played every day like today, we would win all the competitions every year.”
