Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has responded to transfer speculation regarding striker Christian Benteke, amid claims Chelsea are keen.

Benteke was on the bench for today’s visit to Watford, which the Reds lost 3-0. This has fuelled speculation regarding the Belgian’s future at Anfield.

Temporary Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink, unveiled as the short-term successor to Jose Mourinho, is reportedly interested as he bids to shuffle the Blues’ frontline to get their season back on track.

But Klopp insists the former Aston Villa forward is not going anywhere, while perhaps admitting he made a mistake in not starting him at Vicarage Road.

Klopp said: “If there is the same probability in that (story) as all the other transfer rumours since I have been here, then I am pretty cool.

“Maybe it was not the best decision (to start him on the bench), I don’t know. Today I decided not to start with Christian. It is up to the player to change this.”

Benteke has struggled at time this season with injuries after his summer move.
