The Montenegro international is set for a spell on the sidelines.

Atletico Madrid could be without defender Stefan Savic for around a month.

Stefan Savic has suffered an injury to his left hamstring, Atletico Madrid have confirmed. The 28-year-old was substituted 39 minutes into Montenegro’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Bulgaria on Friday. His club side have now confirmed he suffered a muscle injury in his left hamstring but have not said how long he will be out of action for.

“Stefan Savic has undergone several tests at the Clinica Universidad de Navarra that have confirmed he suffered a grade two muscle injury to the left thigh. His recovery depends on his response to treatment”, a club statement read.

However, Sport English claim that the Madrid club will have to deal without the defender for 3-4 weeks. As a result, he missed Montenegro’s qualifier against Kosovo on Monday and will also miss Atletico’s next two Champions League group games.

Savic, who faces a race against time to be fit for the La Liga clash against Granada on 24 November, has featured in seven games across all competitions for Diego Simeone’s side this season.
