New rumors have emerged linking the French star with Real Madrid.
Real Madrid were unable to land Kylian Mbappe a couple of seasons ago, but they are keen to sign him over the next few transfer windows.
The La Liga side have decided to name a €300 million bid for Paris Saint Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe next summer. According to Daily Mail, who reports that Real Madrid’s President Florentino Perez has no problem with breaking the bank to land the 20-year-old at the end of the ongoing 2019-20 season.
To offer readers a bit of perspective, Los Blancos spent a little over €310 million for as many as five new players this summer – Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Ferland Mendy, Rodrygo Goes and Takefusa Kubo. It has been a while since they last broke the transfer record, which they did in 2013 when they signed Gareth Bale for a reported fee of €101 million.
If they are able to sign Mbappe for that price next summer, they will break the current transfer record held by PSG, who signed Neymar Jr. from Barcelona in 2017 for a reported fee of €222 million.
In order to fund this transfer, they would need to offload two star names in order to raise finances. As per Calciomercato, One of those names is Gareth Bale, who is still reportedly unhappy at Madrid, while Colombia playmaker James Rodriguez could also move on having struggled at times to find form this season following a loan spell at Bayern Munich.
It remains to be seen whether any club is willing to pay the substantial transfer fee and wages required to secure either of the duo, but if they do make way then it could pave the way for Mbappe’s move.
