Manchester United target Fabinho told the Ligue 1 title winners that he wants to leave

However, according to reports from France, Manchester United are struggling to push forward in their pursuit of the AS Monaco midfielder.

With just two days until the start of pre-season, ‘France Football’ reported that United are struggling to make progress with the deal to sign the 23-year-old. Man United were said to be in line to make a fresh bid for the Brazilian, after the champions rejected an advance from Paris Saint Germain.

Fabinho is eager to move to England and that, as a result, would make United favourites as they try to solidify their midfield ranks. However, the Brazilian’s services will not come cheap after their ÂŁ40 million rejection from PSG.

Throughout the window, Manchester United have made it clear that they are interested in the signing of a midfielder. They have shown interest in the likes of Eric Dier and Chelsea powerhouse Nemanja Matic, yet both have become unlikely transfers.

Fabinho was a stand out member of the Monaco title winning squad, providing nine goals and one assist in 37 Ligue 1 appearances. The majority of Monaco’s first team stars have been associated with moves away from the Stade Louis II, but the only crucial member to leave is left winger Bernardo Silva to United’s rivals, Manchester City.
