Cesc Fabregas has backed a potential Chelsea bid for Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.
Messi, aged 27, is considering whether to leave Barcelona, having become embroiled in a tax battle with the Spanish authorities, which have somewhat damaged his reputation in the country.
And it appears that Adidas could offer a helping hand in any deal to land the Argentine forward.
Messi’s former Barcelona team mate, Cesc Fabregas, is hoping that he can partner him at Syamford Bridge, with Fabregas signing for the Blues in the summer.
“I wish! Why not? I’d love that to happen,” he said.
“I’d be all for it. As a Barca man, I believe that Messi deserves to retire at Barca for all that he has given the club.
“He is a legend that has changed Barca history.
“But, as his team-mate and friend, without doubt I’d love to have Leo by my side.
“This season Barca are Messi and ten others. Messi has saved his team on many occasions.”
