Chelsea won a sweet three points against West Ham which helped them move to third place on the Premier League table. But the win had a significant milestone in the form of Frank Lampard’s 200th goal which opened Chelsea’s scoring in the 19th minute. Bobby Tambling’s record tally of 202 goals for Chelsea is now just two goals away and likely to be breached by Lampard before the end of the season.
Lampard, who has been a key man for Chelsea over the past decade (he is one of the five players to have scored 100 Premeier League goals in the last decade) has yet to be offered a new contract at the club. While Chelsea were jubilant at the win, the match was marred by reported incidents of coins being thrown by away fans at Lampard and John Terry as they celebrated the goal. The incident is being investigated by the FA.
