Injuries and Off-field issues cast doubt on Midfielder’s future

Former Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita’s problems continue as he fails to make an impact for Werder Bremen. The 29-year-old, who joined the Bundesliga club last summer after a poor spell with the Reds, has played just 80 minutes this season, with his last excursion coming in October.

Keita’s career has been hampered by repeated injuries, a pattern that appears to have followed him to Germany. After a promising start at Merseyside, when he helped Liverpool win both the Champions League and the Premier League, the Guinea international found himself spending more time on the treatment table than on playing time.

His stint at Anfield was marred by numerous injuries, causing him to miss an incredible 95 games over five years until his departure last summer.

Keita’s return to the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen sparked hopes that he could restart his career. However, he had an abductor injury during preseason, laying the way for another uncomfortable stint on the sidelines. Despite a brief comeback with limited minutes, a strong ailment suffered in October has kept him out of play since.

Also, DeichStube say that Keita’s behavior off the pitch has caused concern among the club’s management. Allegations of late to meetings and a refusal to attend sponsored events have raised questions about his dedication and professionalism.

As the season draws to a close, questions loom over Keita’s future at Werder Bremen. With a three-year deal signed just last summer, the midfielder’s tenure with the club hangs in the balance, leaving fans and pundits alike pondering whether a parting of ways is imminent.
