Henrikh Mkhitaryan was full of praise for ‘incredible’ Manchester United teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic after another stellar display in their 3-1 victory over Sunderland.
The Armenia and Sweden internationals were both on the scoresheet at Old Trafford on Boxing Day as the Red Devils eased past former United manager David Moyes’ Black Cats.
Despite Mkhitaryan’s world class goal, it was Ibrahimovic who stole the headlines, with the 35-year-old grabbing assists for both Daley Blind and Mkhitaryan.
Sweden captain Ibrahimovic has set the Theatre of Dreams alight this season, scoring 17 goals so far and has become a vital part of Jose Mourinho’s side that is now unbeaten in 11 games.
Mkhitaryan applauded Ibrahimovic for his consistently solid performances following the win over Sunderland.
“His performances doesn’t show how old he is,” he told MUTV.
“He’s doing some incredible stuff and I’m very happy for him because he deserves it.
“He’s a very big player and everyone knows him. I don’t have to say it because everyone knows he’s a fantastic player.
“I hope he will do his best for the next game as well.”
