Guus Hiddink claims that Ruben Loftus-Cheek has improved under his guidance as the club’s interim manager.
The England under 21 international made his third consecutive start for the Chelsea first team in yesterday’s disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Manchester City.
Hiddink admits starting the 20-year old is an experiment but it is helping Loftus-Cheek in his development by giving him valuable Premier League experience.
‘It’s good to see young players coming through’
When asked about Loftus-Cheek in his post-match press conference, Hiddink said: “That’s why we put some young players on, to give them a chance, not against lower qualified teams but also strong teams.”
“I must say Loftus-Cheek has now started three in a row and is gathering the experience to be grown.”
He also added: “It’s good to see younger players coming through, but it’s better to see them develop under the lead of big players.”
