Napoli striker wants move to Anfield

Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain is reportedly ‘desperate’ to play under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

The news comes as a bit of a surprise as Liverpool haven’t managed to qualify for any European football for next season, after they lost the Europa League final in Basel earlier this month, and after they could only manage an 8th place finish in the Premier League.

It’s thought Higuain wants to quit Napoli after scoring a Serie A record 36 goals in 35 league games this season to help them finish as runners-up behind Juventus.

He’s been previously linked with Arsenal and Manchester United, but it’s reportedly his desire to play under Jurgen Klopp that is drawing him to a move to Liverpool.

Higuain, who has bagged 71 goals in 104 Serie A games, has already had offers and his camp are surprised Liverpool have yet to show any interest.

He has the proven goal-scoring record Liverpool need and is not deterred by the Reds’ failure to qualify for Europe next season.

Klopp will overhaul his strike-force this summer and is open to offers for ÂŁ32.5million misfit Christian Benteke, while Daniel Sturridge’s Anfield future remains in doubt.
