On-loan Liverpool goalkeeper has revealed that he will quit the Premier League club in the Summer on a permanent basis.

The Spaniard was allowed to leave Anfield in the Summer on loan due to Brendan Rodgers signing Sunderland shot-stopper Simon Mignolet, and despite being linked with Arsenal and FC Barcelona, Reina eventually secured a loan move to Rafael Benitez’s Napoli.

Despite not knowing where he will be playing next season, Reina has hinted that he will remain in Italy after he stated that he and his family are happy in the country, but he is adamant that his future is away from Liverpool.

‘I’m very happy here [Napoli] and my family’s happy too,’ he said.

‘I’ll be here right to the end, but not even I know what will happen after. I’m here now, but I’ve got to return to Liverpool, although it’s unlikely I’ll stay there.

‘[Rafael] Benitez was the most important figure in me arriving here. He convinced me to join this ambitious project at a great club.

‘Obviously I also wanted to get to know a different league, while it was Liverpool who took the first step by not wanting me anymore because they were placing their faith in a younger goalkeeper.’

Reina could still be in line to make a move to Barcelona, if they are still interested, after the Spanish side confirmed that current-number one, Victor Valdes, will be leaving the club in the Summer once his contract expires.
