The Italian has featured just once for Jose Mourinho this season

Inter Milan are targeting a loan move with a view to a permanent deal for Manchester United right-back Matteo Darmian.

The Italian has featured just once during Jose Mourinho’s reign at Old Trafford this season, in the Red Devils’ shock 1-0 away defeat to Feyenoord in the Europa League.

But despite the Italy international being a regular feature under former boss Louis Van Gaal, having signed from Serie A outfit Torino last summer on a four-year deal, it seems Darmian’s chances at United are limited.

According to reports in Italy, Inter are willing to take Darmian back to Italy, although they will not sign him on a permanent basis until the summer, at least.

However, previous reports have suggested that Mourinho has told the player he is a part of his plans, although United youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah and right-back regular Antonio Valencia are ahead of him in the pecking order.

Mourinho may be considering keeping ahold of the former AC Milan defender with Europa League fixtures making it a busy schedule for the Red Devils.

And with three years still to run on his current deal, Manchester United are in no rush to sell the defender whose services could be called upon later in the season.
