Raphael Varane and Luka Modric both on goalkeeper’s radar

Jose Mourinho has reportedly held talks with Real Madrid duo Raphael Varane and Luka Modric, ahead of being appointed as the new Manchester United manager.

Mourinho is heavily expected to be announced as the new United boss over the summer, with Louis van Gaal leaving his role after just two seasons, and the Portuguese is already planning transfers.

It’s been reported that he already wants to sell Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini, and it’s also been reported that he wants to sign five world-class players for them over the summer.

However, according to fresh reports, it’s believed he’s already held talks with two of his former-Real Madrid players about potentially swapping the Bernabeu for Old Trafford.

Madrid Duo Wanted

It’s believed he’s held initial talks with both Modric and Varane about possibly leaving Madrid in order to join United.

Mourinho had a great working relationship with the duo, and he labelled the French centre-back as one of the best defenders in the world for his age.

The former-Chelsea boss is adamant that he can persuade Modric to return to the Premier League, a few years since he left in order to join Madrid, and he’s also confident about his chances of landing Varane, who is still lacking for regular first-team football in Spain.

United are expected to spend big this summer no matter who is in charge, but if it is Mourinho, then mass changes are to be expected.
