New manager speaks to LFCTV

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has given his first formal interview in Mersyeside after he spoke to the club’s official TV channel last night, LFCTV.

The German was welcomed by the Anfield club late last night when they announced the news of their official Facebook account.

Klopp has signed a three-year deal, believed to be worth around ÂŁ7m-a-year, and he’s used the interview with LFCTV as an opportunity to introduce himself to his new club.

The manager had been out of work since leaving Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season, and he’s revealed his delight at getting the chance to manage in the Premier League and with one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Klopp Statement

“Firstly, I would like to offer thanks to the ownership of Liverpool Football Club for showing faith in me and my staff and presenting us with this wonderful opportunity,” he said.

“They have presented to me a very clear vision and I share their ambitions and model of work.

“I am very excited by the challenge we face and eager to start the job and begin implementing our ideas and ways of working with this team. This is a talented group of players and there is still much to compete for this season.

“Winning is important but so is how you win and how you play the game. I believe in a playing philosophy that is very emotional, very fast and very strong. My teams must play at full throttle and take it to the limit every single game.

“It is important to have a playing philosophy that reflects your own mentality, reflects the club and gives you a clear direction to follow. Tactical of course, but tactical with a big heart.

“Liverpool has extraordinary supporters and Anfield is a world renowned home, with an incredible atmosphere. I want to build a great relationship with these supporters and give them memories to cherish.

“I hope we can feed off each other’s energy and that we take this journey together.”

‘Biggest Challenge’

Klopp then discussed the job at hand and spoke about Liverpool’s start to the new campaign.

“It’s the biggest challenge at the moment in world football,” he told LFCTV.

“I was not ever a guy (to take) the easy way. This is the most interesting job in world football because it’s not so bad!

“I read it was a disaster (having 12 points in the league) and we’re six points behind (leaders Manchester City).

“Nobody is satisfied, nobody is patient anymore. It’s interesting.

“We have to think about what we can change. I need help of course.

“I know what I want. First I have to talk to the players and find a common way. It’s not a bad thing to be a good friend of mine because I’m really loyal.”
