Jurgen Klopp eyes Donyell Malen for Liverpool’s forward reinforcement
Jurgen Klopp has been reported to be keeping an eye on Dutch international Donyell Malen, who chose Borussia Dortmund over Liverpool two years ago. Despite early problems and a less-than-spectacular time with the German club, Klopp seemed unfazed by the adaptable forward.
Malen, previously regarded as one of Europe’s most promising attacking players, has failed to live up to expectations since joining Dortmund in 2021.
According to Sport Bild, Klopp sees potential in the 24-year-old and sees him as an important player for Liverpool, especially with Mohamed Salah’s likely exit.
While Malen’s stats at Dortmund aren’t particularly impressive, Klopp, known for his ability to bring out the most in players, believes he can bring out the best in the Dutch striker. With Salah’s likely exit looming, Klopp sees Malen as a perfect substitute, providing the Reds with versatility and a new attacking dynamic.
Despite the fact that Dortmund may be looking to transfer Malen, Klopp sees this as an opportunity rather than a risk. The potential bargain deal may see Liverpool get a talented forward who, under Klopp’s guidance, could live up to the promise he showed when at the Arsenal youth.
Only time will tell whether Klopp’s interest in Malen will be transformed into a substantial contribution to Liverpool’s attacking potency.
