Atletico Madrid star Koke has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal at Atletico Madrid. This announcement is a huge blow for Man United, Chelsea and Barcelona who were all vying for the 22-year old’s signature.
The midfielder was a key part of the squad last season, as the La Liga side won the title and went all the way to the Champions League final. With this new deal, he is set to become one of the top earners at the club. His contract now expires in 2019, with Juanfran also signing a new four-year deal.
Koke, who is valued at about £30m, has emerged as one of the hottest young talents in world football over the past two seasons and United, Chelsea and Barca were all linked with bids for the Spaniard. Reports even emerged from Spanish newspaper Sport last month that the Catalan giants wanted to sign Koke and make him Xavi’s successor.
But it looks as if he’ll be staying at Atletico for the time being, with this announcement of a new deal.
