Liverpool are contemplating making a move for Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas.
Until recently the Premier League club were believed to be in talks to bring in free agent Victor Valdes, who has been without a club since leaving Barcelona in the summer.
But the Reds are growing frustrated at the length of these talks and have decided to move for Casillas instead.
The Spanish stopper has found himself out of favour over recent months at Madrid and could fancy a new challenge.
Madrid are looking to offload Casillas in January and would most likely accept a nominal fee to get him off the wage bill.
And Brendan Rodgers believes a transfer away from the club he has spent most of his career with could be the spark he needs to rejuvenate his career.
