Liverpool defender Daniel Agger took to Twitter on Sunday to show off the black eye that his own team-mate Simon Mignolet gave to him during the Reds’ 3-0 win against Manchester United.

Agger found himself on the end of a Mignolet punch as the Liverpool goalkeeper attempted to whack the ball clear from a United corner, but managed to hit the Danish international right in the eye socket.

The 29-year-old’s eye instantly ballooned and left Agger looking a bit annoyed with the shot stopper, but the pair used their social media account to patch things up.

Agger tweeted: ‘Great game, great atmosphere!! Hardcore keeper.. With friends like that, who needs enemies?’

The former Sunderland keeper jokingly replied: ‘My sincere apologies also to the wife!’

Luckily for Liverpool, Agger was able to play on with the injury and managed the full 90 minutes as his team eased to a 3-0 win thanks to two Steven Gerrard penalties and an 84th minute strike from Luis Suarez.
