Liverpool look to take advantage of stalling contract talks to sign forward for a cut price fee

Liverpool are looking to bolster their striking options by meeting the release clause of promising Valencia forward Paco Alcacer.

Having come through the ranks at the Mestalla, Alcacer made his breakthrough last year, impressing Vicente Del Bosque enough to give him a call-up to the Spain squad.

Talks on Alcacer’s new contract have reportedly stalled, and Liverpool are set to take advantage of that by activating a release clause standing at £14.1m, far below what he would command should he sign a new deal.

Alcacer has scored 10 goals and made four assistant this season, and would fit straight in to a Liverpool side that have been struggling for goals and consistency since the start of the season.
