Reds launch £22million bid for Real Madrid outcast

Liverpool have made a formal bid for Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev, according to reports.

The 24-year-old has struggled to impress at the Bernabeu since his promotion from Real Madrid B back in 2012 and after two loan spells away, he could be set for a permanent switch this summer.

Loan-Spells

Cheryshev has had two loan spells in La Liga, one year with Sevilla and the other with Villarreal, with the latter coming last season, when he scored seven goals and assisted 11.

Despite his impressive loan spell with Villarreal, the Russian is expected to be sold permanently this summer as new manager Rafael Benitez starts to make changes to the squad.

Liverpool Interest

Liverpool have bee monitoring the 24-year-old in recent weeks, and with Raheem Sterling all-but set to leave Anfield, Cheryshev could be the ideal replacement.

According to reports this morning, The Reds will launch a formal offer of around £22million for the Russian international.

Liverpool have already signed six players, with the most expensive costing £29m in the shape of Roberto Firmino, but the spending won’t stop there as Brendan Rodgers tries to put last season’s failures behind him.

Ibe set for Loan?

If the Real Madrid winger does arrive in Merseyside, it could see Jordan Ibe spend another season out on loan after spending half of last year with Championship side Derby County.

Although the starlet broke into the first-team at the end of last season, with Firmino and potentially Cheryshev arriving at the club, first-team football could be limited for Ibe and could stall his development.
