Liverpool are planning a £75million redevelopment of Anfield, as they hope the plans will be given the green light by the city council.

The Reds are hoping to hear about the result by the end of the calender year as they finally look set to expand their stadium to be able to compete with Manchester United’s and Arsenal’s stadiums, Old Trafford and the Emirates.

The plans for Liverpool are to expand the main stand, adding a further 8,300 seats, which would take their grand capacity to 53,500, but even if given the green-light, work on the stadium won’t be finished until the start of the 2016/2017 season.

A consultation meeting between the council is set to take place at the end of this month, and Liverpool Football Club will then find out in November whether or not they have been granted permission to develop the stadium and expand it.

If all goes well, Liverpool will start the work immediately and have projected it to take around 20-months until completion.

However, they have stated that whilst doing the work on the main stand, the current capacity of 44,000 will not be affected and fans won’t end up missing out due to the expansions.
