Brendan Rodgers would have been disappointed. Liverpool fans, in the main, were distraught. Luis Saurez had arrived, sprinkled fairy dust over Anfield, and then left, all in the blink of an eye. Despite his obvious and well documented shortcomings, most of Anfield would have loved him to stay. It wasn’t to be.
Since Saurez’s departure, Liverpool have stuttered at best. They have struggled in every department. Goals have only come at a premium, and defensively, it seems questions have been asked after every single game. Somebody has swept up that fairy dust.
Now, there is hope again, and he is Uruguayan too. Get used to the name Jaime Baez. The Reds have been tracking the 19-year-old striker who presently plys his trade for Juventud in his home country, and the press in Uruguay have dubbed him the ‘new Luis Saurez’.
Rodgers is very aware of him and has sent scouts to monitor his progress, and Liverpool are currently favourites to bring him to Europe.
Baez and Origi up front for Liverpool next season? The mouth waters. Obviously there is Daniel Sturridge to consider, but pundits agree…..he is likely to be injured.
