Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is planning on making controversial striker Luis Suarez his captain for the weekend game against Tottenham Hotspur.

Usual captain Steven Gerrard is set to be sidelined for up to a month, whilst vice-captain Daniel Agger is also set to miss out, and it is believed that Rodgers is prepared to reward Suarez for his form by giving him the captains armband for the day.

Speaking ahead of the clash at White Hart Lane, Rodgers spoke about whether or not the Uruguayan is suitable to be captain.

“Would Luis be ready for the captaincy? One hundred per cent. Absolutely,” said Rodgers. “We will have to wait and see what my decision is at White Hart Lane.

“Daniel Agger is fit. He didn’t train at the start of the week because he was ill, but he has been training now and he’s available for selection.
