Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez believes that his team will have to win every time they take the field to stay up in the title race. The Algerian is set for a return to his familiar surroundings as the Citizens get ready to face Leicester City in a Boxing Day clash at the King Power Stadium.
Defeats against Chelsea and Crystal Palace have seen City slip to second in the standings, four points behind league leaders Liverpool and Mahrez has warned his teammates that there is little margin for error in the title race.
The Algerian believes that there is no room for another slip-up against Leicester, with a trip to Southampton on the 31st before Liverpool visit the Etihad for a million-dollar clash which could turn out to be the potential title-decider.
“It’s massive because you have to win now, every time,” the Algeria international told Sky Sports.
“You don’t have any chance to drop points because when you drop points, the opponent wins and now they’re in front of us.”
“When you arrive in the first six months it’s always difficult to adapt to everything,” added Mahrez.
“I’m very good. I’m still new to the team. I think more months are going to pass and I’m going to be better.”
