Man United chase Lennon!

David Moyes is planning to save a portion of his transfer budget in summer to make a move for Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon. The Man United boss has been a big fan of the Spurs player since his days in charge of Everton and he wants the 26-year old to be part of his Old Trafford transformation.

Football Direct News has claimed that Moyes is full of admiration for the player’s pace and directness, and likes the fact he can play on either flank. However whether Spurs will be willing to sell to Man United is another matter.

The two clubs don’t have the best of relationships, because of Dimitar Berbatov’s deadline-switch back in 2008. They also had a war of words last summer when Spurs signed former United player Zaki Fryers. Spurs then swiftly moved to report they would not sell Andros Townsend to Man United when The Red Devils were interested in a move.

At the end of this season, Lennon will have two years left on his contract and Spurs won’t be keen to sell him to a rival team. Spurs could still qualify for the Champions League and that would put them in an even stronger position to keep hold of their player.

That doesn’t mean Man United won’t try to grab Lennon when they can. David Moyes sees him as the ideal player to replace Antonio Valencia, who has failed to impress much this season and is regarded as one of the eight or nine players who could be headed for the Old Trafford exit door this summer.
