Manchester United are ready to make a huge offer for PSG star defender Marquinhos.
International outlet (via Le10Sport) write that Jose Mourinho is a great admirer of the former Roma defender, and is ready to offer €70 million for him, despite previous interest in the Brazilian from the likes of Barcelona being waved away by PSG.
A Brazilian international, Marquinhos joined PSG from AS Roma in the summer of 2013 for €31m.
Also targeted by the likes of Inter and Barcelona, the PSG defender has stated before that he is in talks over a new contract with PSG, and has suggested a move away is unlikely, despite worldwide interest.
“We’ve begun new contract talks and we need some time to reach an agreement.
“It’s not only up to me but my contract here runs until 2019 and under my point of view everything is pretty clear, I want to stay at PSG.”
Barcelona were reported to have offered PSG € 50 million last summer for the 22-year-old defender, but had this offer shrugged off by mega-rich PSG, who see no reason to sell Marquinhos at any price.
Jose Mourinho will be hoping an offer as large as 70m will be enough to tempt PSG to allow Marquinhos to leave, but judging by the past, this seems unlikely – though, if Marquinhos head is turned by a club the size of Manchester United, and the prospect of playing in the Premier League, it would certainly be a huge deal.
