Manchester City are reportedly ready to pay a staggering £200million to sign Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
It’s thought that the Citizens are putting together a massive financial package to try and sign the striker, who is reportedly unsettled at Barcelona.
The package includes a transfer fee of over £100million and a basic wage of £500,000 per week for the Argentine.
It’s thought that the appointment of Pep Guardiola at the Etihad has put them in a brilliant position to sign him.
And now City are even more confident, with contract talks between Messi and the Spanish champions stalling.
Messi has a £215m buy-out clause in his current deal but his contract will expire in 2018, and Barca know they will be forced to sell the four-time World Footballer of the Year next summer or risk losing him for nothing 12 months later.
This could be the biggest transfer in history, if it comes off.
