Manchester United Appoint Ole Gunnar Solskjær As Caretaker Manager

Manchester United have confirmed the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjær as the caretaker manager for the remainder of the season.

The 45 year old’s is expected to take charge officially very soon and his first assignment will be to guide United past Cardiff City which happens to be his old club on Saturday. Solskjær will be assisted by former Hull City manager Nike Phelan in the proceedings.

United parted ways with Jose Mourinho on Tuesday and announced they would name a caretaker manager before finalising a name for the managerial post. Solskjær will also have Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna from the present coaching team to guide him in this process.

Solskjær expressed his happiness for this opportunity. “Manchester United is in my heart and it’s brilliant to be coming back in this role. I’m really looking forward to working with the very talented squad we have, the staff and everyone at the club.

Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward said, “Ole is a club legend with huge experience, both on the pitch and in coaching roles. His history at Manchester United means he lives and breathes the culture here and everyone at the club is delighted to have him and Mike Phelan back. We are confident they will unite the players and the fans as we head into the second half of the season.”
