Future of the striker is still uncertain

Mauro Icardi has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world over the last few seasons with Italian giants Inter Milan in Serie A. Since joining then from Sampdoria back in 2013, he has settled quickly and has been an indispensable part of the team.

The 25 year old is currently the second highest goalscorer in Serie A, scoring 27 goals and assisting once in 31 league appearances. His sparkling form this season has caught plenty of interest from top European clubs.

The Striker has been heavily linked with a move away in recent months and his transfer rumors have been more intensified by his manager. Inter striker Mauro Icardi’s agent Mino Raiola has made contact with Manchester United over a possible move, reports  Corriere dello Sport.

It is believed that the Argentina International’s future depends on whether Inter Milan secure the Champions League spot next season. They are currently at 5th position and 4 points adrift from 4th position, which is occupied by Lazio. Only 3 games are left in the league and the club needs to win all the matches to have any chances for securing the top 4 spot.

Both the club and the player are willing to extend his contract at the San Siro but if the Serie A giants fails to qualify for Champions League, then he could be tempted to seal a move away from the club. His agent has already established contacts with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain earlier and now contacted  Manchester United regarding the player.

Icardi has a release clause of about 110 million euros, valid only for foreign clubs and it will be active from the 1st of July to the 15th of  July.
