United in talks with Real Madrid regarding Colombian

Manchester United have held talks with Real Madrid regarding a potential deal for James Rodriguez, according to reports.

Louis van Gaal is desperate to splash the cash this month in order to strengthen his team and push for a top-four spot after recent form has all-but ended their title chances.

Another loss yesterday at Old Trafford was met with boos by the United faithful, but it seems that the board are still backing the Dutchman to deliver.

Attackers Wanted

With just a few months left in the season, Van Gaal is desperate to add attacking threat to his squad, and James could be the man to resolve their scoring problems.

Despite their last signing from Madrid going sour, United are keen on bringing the 24-year-old to the Premier League and are willing to spend up to ÂŁ63million.

United aren’t the only team interested in James however, as it’s believed Chelsea are also tracking the Colombian should the La Liga side decide to sell.

Madrid Transfer Ban

A potential stumbling block may be Madrid’s upcoming transfer ban, which will see them be unable to make signings for the next two transfer windows.

However, Zinedine Zidane hasn’t been impressed with the midfielder and may be happy to let him go without needing to sign a replacement.
