Jose Mourinho has revealed that the club will spend a lot of money on one marquee player next season.
His comments come after a tidal wave of controversy after starting that United need more money to compete with Manchester City. Mourinho complained that they have not spent enough despite signing Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic, Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic under his tenure.
United have long been linked with Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann and the French star could have been the player in Mourinho’s mind while talking to the press.
Mourinho said: “I think, next season, we are going to get two or three more players. We are going to lose also two or three.
“My club, two years ago, paid a lot of money for Paul. Last year, they paid a lot of money for Lukaku and I’m sure, next year, they are also going to pay a lot of money for one player.
“But we are doing these things with some balance because it’s the profile of the club. We do it with some balance.”
