Manchester United have identified Paris Saint-Germain’s Swedish forward, Zlatan Ibrahimovic as their main summer target, and the Red Devils are to offer him a lucrative short-term contract.

The 34-year-old is set to leave the French top-flight at the end of the season, having failed to agree fresh terms with PSG, the side that he recently helped win a fourth Ligue 1 championship in a row.

Reports in France suggest that despite interest in his services from continental Europe, Ibrahimovic is keen to end his illustrious playing career in the Premier League – a division that he has never graced.

With that in mind, Chelsea and Arsenal have both been touted as suitors, but United chief executive Ed Woodward is willing to take a punt on the veteran striker, by offering him a deal worth a staggering £250,000 a week, in order for him to make the move to Old Trafford.

News regarding a possible incoming transfer of Ibrahimovic could have a reverse domino effect on proceedings at the club, not only with the future of manager Louis Van Gaal, but also United’s current attacking options.
