Premier League opener predictions

BBC pundit believes all top teams will be victorious. With the Premier League back in just two days time, BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson has started off his prediction season by giving his thoughts on this weekend’s scorelines.

Below you can see who he tips to win their opening game of the 2014/2015 season.

Manchester United 2-0 Swansea City

“On Saturday, what he has already got will be enough to get the win the United fans want.”

Leicester City 1-1 Everton

“I think it will be a case of an established Premier League team travelling to a newly promoted side who are full of confidence right at the start of the season. Everton will find it more difficult.”

Queens Park Rangers 1-0 Hull City

“I see Hull having another decent season but am backing QPR to be the newly promoted side to get a win on the opening weekend. Like Leicester, they will be full of confidence.”

Stoke City 2-0 Aston Villa
“The Potters have had a really positive summer in the transfer market and should get another top-half finish but neither can be said for Villa, who have spent very little and face another struggle.”
West Brom 1-1 Sunderland
“The Baggies face another difficult campaign after finishing 17th last season.”
West Ham United 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur
“If he improves what he has got at Tottenham, then they will have a very good season. My only concern for them at the moment is where the goals are going to come from.”
Arsenal 2-0 Crystal Palace
“They will not make it easy for Arsenal but this game has ‘home win’ written all over it.”
Liverpool 2-0 Southampton
“In the meantime, I think Liverpool will have too much for Saints.”
Newcastle United 1-2 Manchester City
“Whoever is in their defence, I still think City should win this game though. Last season’s champions have more match-winners in their squad and Newcastle will be bedding a few players in.”
Burnley 0-2 Chelsea
“Turf Moor will be rocking on Monday but what will stop them beating Chelsea on Monday is that I think they are playing the team that will go on to win the league title.”
What are your thoughts on these predictions? Is Lawro correct?
