Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has made it clear Ruben Loftus-Cheek will get his due chance but he needs to improve in a bid to get into the starting lineup. The midfielder hasn’t started a game this season.
Loftus-Cheek impressive display at Crystal Palace earned him a place in the England World Cup squad. It had been expected the youngster would get his long awaited chance this season but the arrival of Sarri has delayed his chances.
The Chelsea boss is pretty well stocked in the midfield department following the arrival of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic but he won’t let the youngster leave the club. A loan spell in abroad would help him in his development but the Italian insisted Loftus-Cheek’s future lies at the Stamford Bridge.
“I am very, very happy with him. In the last 10 days he has improved a lot. I am really very happy with him. He will be important for sure, starting in September when we will play every three days. I think Loftus will be very useful for us.
“I think he can be a Premier League starter at Chelsea. It’s not easy to play here, there are 25 very good players so it’s not easy to play in the starting XI, but if he improves more he will be ready to play from the beginning.
“He has to improve in order to play my football. He has great qualities from the physical and technical point of view, but he has to improve in the tactical point of view.”
