Playmaker hopes teammate recovers soon
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has revealed that his role-model at the club is Per Mertesacker, and he hopes that his fellow German can recover from his injury soon.
As former teammates at Werder Bremen, Ozil insists Mertesacker is a big miss for the Gunners and that he helps everybody at the club.
“I’ve known Per for a while, because we’ve played together in Bremen, for the national team and here too,” Ozil revealed to Arsenal Player.
“I can only say positives about him. He gives everything for the team, not just for himself, but for everyone.
“Off the pitch, he watches the games and comes into the dressing room. He’s just a role model and we’re pleased to have him here. I want him to get fit again and back on the pitch as quickly as possible.
“I sincerely hope that he comes back really quickly.”
Arsenal sit in 3rd place in the Premier League after a strong start to the season, they’re certainly in the mix for the title. They’re just 2 points behind the leaders, Manchester City.
