Victor Wanyama will be reunited with his former Southampton manager as Mauricio Pochettino looks to booster his squad for next season’s Champions League.

Wanyama is set to finalise a £13.5 million move from The Saints to Tottenham.

The midfielder, who has just one year left on his current contract at St Mary’s, made the trip from Nairobi to London to undergo a medical on Sunday to finalise the deal to officially become Mauricio Pochettino’s first summer signing, bringing the Kenya captain to the Premier League from Celtic.

The 24-year-old will then return to Kenya after an official unveiling, which will happed early this week sometime.

“It’s always a tough moment leaving a club where you are so much used to their tradition and fans but it’s always the dream of any footballer to play at the very top level like the Champions League,” Wanyama told Soka25east on Saturday.

“I will definitely miss the awesome Southampton fans who always showed me love and I know they will fully understand my decision.”
