Liverpool vice praises side

Liverpool vice-captain James Milner has claimed that Liverpool are a much improved side to the one that they were just a year ago.

The arrival of Jurgen Klopp in October has revolutionized life for the Liverpool players, and they are now starting to see the results of Klopp’s philosophy.

Their only defeat so far was a 2-0 loss at Burnley in August, and vice-captain Milner believes they are a much different team to last season.

The 30-year-old midfielder told the club’s TV channel: “I’m seeing a different team this year, completely different to last year.

“Even Burnley wasn’t too bad a performance, it was the final third that let us down.

“I think maybe last year some games we would play like we wanted to play, but in other games we wouldn’t.

“Consistency has been really good and you look down the squad list and the quality is unbelievable.”

Milner suggested that manager Jurgen Klopp will not hesitate to drop a player who he believes is not pulling their weight on the pitch.

He added: “If you don’t perform, the shirt will be taken off you and someone will else get the chance and you don’t know how long they will have that shirt.

“That is really pleasing. You need that competition for places to drive each other on and hopefully we can keep improving as a team.”
