The United boss admits ‘Juventus player’ set to join Red Devils

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has all but confirmed that Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba will join the club this summer for a fee believed to be around £110 million.

The exact figure is yet to be confirmed, with other reports suggesting the deal to be around £95 million, which would still more than smash the current world-record transfer fee paid by Real Madrid for Tottenham’s Gareth Bale.

Speaking ahead of United’s Community Shield fixture at Wembley against Premier League champions Leicester City, Mourinho said: “Yes [there will be a big signing]. We have 22 players now and we will have 23.

“I don’t like to talk about other teams’ players. He is a Juventus player until officially he is not.”

With the Red Devils not knowingly in the market for another Juventus player, as such, Mourinho’s comments effectively confirm one of the summer’s worst kept secrets, alongside that of the club’s signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The club are expected to announce the signing over the coming days, once Pogba has completed a medical.

Pogba has had an extended break this summer, after his Euro 2016 exploits with France, which saw Les Bleus reach the final.

But with Mourinho finally speaking out about the deal, United fans have finally been able to relax that their former academy star is definitely set to return to Old Trafford.
