Mourinho’s representatives claim manager is to take over
Jose Mourinho’s representatives are claiming that their man will take over Manchester United this summer.
Mourinho, who was sacked by Chelsea for the second time in his career in December, has been strongly linked with United since his Stamford Bridge departure, and now those rumours are stronger than ever.
That’s according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.
He says people close the former Chelsea boss believe the Portguese will replace Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Balague also claims the Dutchman thinks he is staying at United and the Red Devils are refusing to confirm the appointment of Mourinho.
He tweeted: “On Mou. His people say all done with United. Most football people think all done too. MUFC say no decision made. Lvg thinks he’s staying.”
Van Gaal has been under pressure at United this season ever since his team took an early exit from the Champions League at the group stage, and has also been criticised for the lack of ‘attractive football’ his team has played this season.
A top 4 finish is still a possibility for Van Gaal, but even that doesn’t look like it could be enough to save his job.
