Napoli have sounded out Arsenal over a possible move for Thomas Vermaelen. The defender’s contract expires at the end of next season and despite his lack of playing time this term, Arsene Wenger still wants to keep him at the club.
Rafa Benitez, Napoli’s manager, has seen his side’s push for the Serie A title derailed by some defensive deficiences and he has named Vermaelen as the person to reinforce their backline. Wenger, as previously mentioned, is still a keen admirer of the Belgian however and wants to retain his services.
As for the player, it is believed he is unsettled. Only time will tell if this move comes to fruition.
