No need for Fabregas

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has admitted to blocking the club making a move for Fabregas, as he believes Juan Mata plays a similar feature in the squad.

Former boss David Moyes tried to sign Fabregas from Barcelona last summer, but failed to do so, resulting in widespread rumours suggesting that United would come back in for the player in the future.

And it appears that United were ready to act upon the news that Fabregas was allowed to leave last month, but Van Gaal prevented the club from making any move to sign the midfielder.

The Dutch boss believes that Juan Mata plays a similar role and style within the team, so there was no need to persure Fabregas’ signature.

This then left Chelsea a clear route to sign Fabregas without any other interest from various clubs.
