Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has admitted that confidence around the club has been smashed after their shock 2-1 loss at home to Swansea City yesterday.

The Red Devis kicked off their campaign under the Dutchman by falling to an Old Trafford defeat to Gary Monk’s side, and after the match, Van Gaal admitted that confidence around the club has been completely smashed.

Van Gaal said: “When you have preparation, win everything, then lose your first match, it cannot be worse.

“We have built up a lot of confidence. It will be smashed because of this.”

Goals from Ki and Sigurdsson gave The Swans the three points, after United captain, Wayne Rooney pulled the hosts level.
