Pep Guardiola Believes Manchester City Supporters Need To Push The Team In The Champions League

Pep Guardiola has urged Manchester City supporters to come forward and support wholeheartedly the team in the Champions League.

City supporters have behaved peculiarly in this competition as they seem to have the knack of negating the positive effect surrounding the team. The stands were empty during their 2-1 defeat to Lyon and Guardiola wants to change the perception.

The Spanish manager is aiming to better their previous season’s result where they bowed down to fellow English club Liverpool in the quarter finals. The gaffer said, “You have to have the desire, the club, the fans, chairman, owner, everyone has to push to be closer.

“You have to be pushed, not just by the manager, by everyone surrounding Manchester City that we have to win it – and still we don’t have that feeling. The feeling that the fans are pushing that we have to win the Champions League.

“Normally what happens is you get closer, that’s why I feel we are a really good team, but in this competition you need something special, and still I don’t feel it.”

“I saw last season that still we are not ready, that’s what I feel. That doesn’t mean we are not going to try.

“It’s not enough just to have desire, you have to have many circumstances, still we don’t have enough. But every game is a new experience. With the way the club is working over five or 10 years and we’ll get closer every year and then one year it will happen.”
